THE QUICK ANSWER
At a glance
- KrisFlyer distinguishes Saver and Advantage awards from demand-priced Access redemptions.
- A confirmed Access booking and a waitlisted Saver request are different outcomes.
- Aeroplan availability must be checked separately from Singapore's own redemption options.
- Stopover eligibility and fare conditions belong with the exact ticket being compared.
KrisFlyer now has more than two redemption products
The Points Guy's May 14, 2026 KrisFlyer guide notes that some long-haul Singapore Airlines business-class awards can also be booked through programs such as Aeroplan. That is a reason to check overlapping flights, rather than a claim that all Singapore premium cabins or every departure are available to partners.
Singapore Airlines' current redemption page lists Saver, Advantage and Access. Its Access FAQ, effective November 1, 2025, says Saver and Advantage use fixed award-chart amounts with allocated inventory, while Access prices depend on seat availability and provide immediate confirmation when available. A comparison that omits Access no longer describes all the redemption products Singapore publishes.
Compare a confirmed booking with a confirmed booking
Keep each Singapore redemption product separate. A lower miles figure does not establish a lower price for a confirmed seat if it appears only as a waitlist request.
| Option | Published structure | Comparison requirement |
|---|---|---|
| KrisFlyer Saver | Lower miles requirement with limited award availability | Record confirmed versus waitlisted status |
| KrisFlyer Advantage | Higher miles requirement with broader award seat choice | Read the quoted fare and included stopovers |
| KrisFlyer Access | Demand-priced redemption with immediate confirmation when available | Use the booking-flow price; the miles calculator does not apply |
| Aeroplan partner award | Aeroplan's applicable reward rules and available inventory | Match Singapore operating flights, travelers and every segment's cabin |
| Full itinerary | Connections and stopovers may change the product being priced | Compare the same trip rather than isolated flight segments |
How to compare Singapore-operated flights through both programs
Search the actual origin and destination, date, passenger count and cabin through Singapore Airlines and Aeroplan. Record operating flight numbers, connection times and the cabin on every leg. Confirm whether each result is available for immediate issue or needs a waitlist. Do not equate a cabin seat map, a cash fare and an award that the chosen program can issue.
At Singapore, record separate Saver, Advantage and Access quotes when offered. The official page says Access cannot be priced with the miles calculator; its actual requirement appears in the booking flow. At Aeroplan, obtain a separate current itinerary quote. An unavailable Aeroplan result cannot be filled in with the price of a different Singapore departure or a previous travel article's redemption.
Stopovers, passenger eligibility and ticket flexibility
The programs publish different stopover frameworks. Aeroplan advertises eligible international stopovers for 5,000 extra points and excludes stopover cities in Canada and the United States. Singapore lists complimentary stopovers on eligible redemption ticket types, with stays up to 30 days. Read the exact one-way or round-trip fare conditions instead of assuming either feature applies to every available award.
Singapore's FAQ says Access follows Advantage fare conditions. Its redemption page also describes nominee rules: members can designate up to five people, with restrictions on changing nominees. For an award for another traveler, confirm their eligibility alongside inventory and funding. Aeroplan's own policy separately governs its issued ticket, including applicable partner charges and changes.
Compare the points required and cash total for the same confirmed travel outcome. If dates are fixed, retain only options that actually provide the needed confirmed seats. If dates are flexible, keep alternative dates as separate options. Before moving bank points, check the transfer screen and the issuing program again; the final comparison needs an account that can fund and issue that exact itinerary.
Common questions
Is KrisFlyer Access the same as an Advantage award?
No. Singapore says Access is priced according to seat availability, whereas Saver and Advantage use award-chart amounts. Access follows Advantage fare conditions, but its pricing is a separate product.
Can Aeroplan book every Singapore Airlines award?
The cited 2026 reporting discusses partner access to some long-haul business awards. It does not establish access to every cabin, date or seat. Search Aeroplan independently.
Is a waitlisted Saver result comparable with a confirmed Aeroplan award?
They have different confirmation status. Record the Saver result as waitlisted and compare confirmed options separately; the lower displayed miles figure does not guarantee a ticket.
