This report covers 53,495 route-program pairs AwardTool tracks across 29 programs; 43,019 of them showed award space in the last 30 days. Among programs with 10 or more tracked routes, Cathay Pacific Asia Miles (27 of 27) and JAL Mileage Bank (10 of 10) tied for the largest share with business class space: 100%.

Methodology

AwardTool tracks 53,495 route-program pairs and scans 365 departure dates for each. A pair counts as having award space when AwardTool observed at least one open award on it in the last 30 days. Shares divide pairs or routes with a property by the pairs or routes in the sample; medians use each route's lowest business award, for region pairs with 3 or more routes.

Lowest awards that appear only once, or far below what other programs show on the same route, stay in the tables but never drive headline numbers on AwardTool's route pages. Read the full methodology.

Limitations

  • Award space AwardTool didn't observe may still exist: these are observations of cached searches, not a full inventory.
  • Program coverage differs: each program is tracked on its own set of routes, so counts between programs aren't directly comparable.
  • Prices are the lowest one-way awards observed, per passenger, in each program's own points or miles; taxes and fees are in USD.
  • Values older than 30 days are left out, so a quiet route can drop out of the data until seats are observed again.
