The best transfer offer is often the one that closes a known booking gap. Chase’s current Aeroplan promotion is worth putting beside an itinerary you have already priced. Frequent Miler and Upgraded Points reported the offer on August 12; we checked their coverage on September 5, 2026.
Start with the standard offer
Frequent Miler reports a 20% bonus on Chase Ultimate Rewards transfers to Air Canada Aeroplan through September 30 at 11:59 p.m. Eastern. Use that standard offer as the first comparison, without assuming that an additional cardholder benefit applies.

Here is a useful distinction: 20% more receiving points does not mean 20% fewer sending points. In an illustrative 60,000-point redemption, a 50,000-point transfer covers the requirement. That is 10,000 fewer Chase points than a one-for-one transfer, a reduction of about 16.7%. Actual transfer increments and any existing balance change the amount you need.
Treat the cardholder extra separately
Upgraded Points also describes a separate 10% transfer benefit for eligible Aeroplan credit card holders, triggered by transfers of at least 50,000 points in one transaction and capped at 25,000 bonus points per year. Check your eligibility, remaining annual allowance and posting terms before counting those points toward an immediate booking.
Compare complete journeys
For our trip worksheet, we would put three totals next to each candidate flight: the transferable points needed, the cash due at booking and the time spent traveling. A longer connection can be perfectly reasonable when the savings buy something you care about, such as another hotel night. It becomes less attractive when it adds a separate positioning flight or disrupts the rest of the trip.
Use the same passenger count and cabin when comparing options. Record the cancellation conditions too. A slightly higher points price may be a reasonable choice if it fits your dates and avoids an inconvenient overnight connection.
Our recommendation is to calculate from the booking backward. Find the flight, subtract your existing Aeroplan balance, then work out the transfer. This keeps the promotion attached to a specific travel decision and makes unused leftovers easier to avoid.
