How to find hotels with points and compare award nights

How to search award hotels by location and dates#

Open Hotels and enter a city, landmark, or street address, then choose check-in and check-out dates. Searching near a conference venue, station, attraction, or family address can make the results more relevant than starting with an entire destination.

Decide what matters before narrowing the list: proximity, points budget, cash rate, guest rating, brand, or use of a certificate. A cheaper redemption farther away may add daily travel costs or time, so evaluate location alongside the headline points price.

1. Enter location and dates

   Search the destination and complete your stay dates. Set check-out to the day after your final night. For example, a stay for the nights of June 10 and 11 checks out on June 12. Check your arrival date carefully after an overnight flight.

2. Apply useful filters

   Narrow by the supported brand, points, cash, distance, rating, certificate, card, or transferable-program filters. Start with essentials, then add preferences.

3. Compare and open a property

   Review location, guest rating, points or cash pricing, and availability. Open a hotel for details or select its calendar to investigate more dates.

Use photos, a list, and a map for different decisions#

Card view groups a hotel's image, rating, price range, transfer options, calendar, and alert action. It is useful while exploring properties. List view makes prices and other details more compact; on wider screens, the accompanying map helps compare neighborhoods and distances.

Use the keyword field, when present, to search within results already loaded. Sort by the measure relevant to your decision, such as points price, cash rate, point value, distance, rating, or availability. More Hotels loads another group while retaining your filters and sort order.

Explore award nights in a property's calendar#

On the hotel detail page, begin with the property summary, points range, guest rating, and available transfer partners. Choose Calendar View to compare award nights across a month, move between months with the arrows, or use Today to return. Your account's access window determines which dates you can inspect.

An available rate can show both points and a cash price. Hover or open the available rate details to inspect room type and the displayed value information. Calendar colors help distinguish rate options; do not assume every rate represents the same room.

List View aligns dates, cash prices, points, cents-per-point values, and room types in sortable columns. This is useful for comparing exact alternatives once you have found a property. Select an available rate or row to continue with the hotel.

Compare cash and points on equal terms#

Use the displayed cents-per-point value as a comparison aid, then inspect the actual room and booking terms. A cash rate and points rate may involve different inclusions or cancellation conditions. Compare the final totals and relevant terms for the stay you would really book.

For several nights, confirm the entire date range in the hotel's own booking flow. One available award night does not establish that a continuous stay is available at the same rate or in the same room. For multiple rooms or a family, check room occupancy and the number of bookable rooms with the program.

If you plan to use a certificate or transferable rewards, use the relevant filters to find candidates, then check current provider rules for eligibility. Transfer-partner logos indicate a potential points connection; they do not establish your personal eligibility or promise that transferring offers the best value.

Watch a property when the right nights are missing#

Choose the bell on a hotel result or its detail page to create a hotel alert. Review the property, dates, and available criteria, then save the alert. This is useful for a particular stay you would otherwise check repeatedly.

If no current result works, widen the location slightly, compare another brand, or inspect neighboring nights if the trip is flexible. When an alert or calendar reveals an option, return to the hotel program to verify availability, room details, total cost, and booking conditions.
