Etihad Guest guide: reward flights, partners and how to book

What is Etihad Guest?#

Etihad Guest is Etihad Airways’ loyalty program. Members can use miles for flight rewards, eligible upgrades and selected partner travel, as well as other rewards. The flight you take and the program that issues it can be different: using Etihad Guest miles on a partner is a booking through Etihad Guest, with the partner operating the aircraft.

For a first redemption, decide whether the goal is an Etihad flight, a specific partner itinerary or an upgrade on an existing ticket. Each needs its own search and conditions. A cash flight appearing on an airline website only establishes that a paid seat is being sold; it does not establish award space through Etihad Guest.

Read the actual reward product and fare benefits#

Etihad’s terms distinguish different flight reward types, including GuestSeat and OpenSeat terminology. Its newer fare information also uses Saver Award wording in some contexts. Follow the precise product and fare conditions in the current booking rather than assuming an older guide’s name describes every reward you see.

Etihad’s fare FAQ specifically separates reward conditions from the general paid-fare tables. For a premium-cabin redemption, check baggage, seat selection, lounge access and any chauffeur entitlement attached to that reward. Paying with miles does not establish that every benefit of a similarly named cash fare is included.

Partner flights are governed by eligibility and availability for the selected airline. Use Etihad’s current partner directory to identify the booking instructions, then confirm the exact flight numbers, dates and cabin. If an online search does not produce the itinerary, seek a confirmed explanation rather than transferring points on the assumption that a telephone booking will work.

How to book flights with Etihad Guest miles#

Collect the details of your intended itinerary before opening a transfer page. For a connection through Abu Dhabi, include both flights and inspect the arrival date; the long-haul cabin alone does not describe the full journey.

1. Search the intended reward

   Sign in to Etihad Guest and follow the flight-reward link from the official Spend miles page. Enter the complete route, cabin and passenger count.

2. Verify partner instructions

   If another airline operates the trip, consult its current Etihad Guest partner entry and use the specified booking method. Confirm availability with Etihad Guest for the actual seats you need.

3. Inspect fare and benefits

   Read the reward name, operating carrier and cabin on every segment. Review included services and the complete miles-and-money payment.

4. Read refund and change terms

   Check the cost at your current time before departure and how that cost changes closer to travel. Identify the service channel required for a refund or route change.

5. Fund and issue

   Once availability and terms are acceptable, verify any bank-transfer conditions, fund the account and recheck. Complete ticketing and retain both the receipt and relevant carrier references.

Use the current fare bundle’s cancellation rules#

For awards issued or reissued from November 13, 2025, the newer fare information distinguishes Value, Comfort and Deluxe. The published tables show no changes or cancellations within 72 hours of departure. Outside that window, Value is nonrefundable, Comfort has a cancellation deduction, and Deluxe has different flexibility. Read the exact cabin and fare table for your ticket.

One Mile at a Time’s coverage, updated May 31, 2026, documents this fare-bundle change. Older summaries describe earlier sliding cancellation percentages, so do not apply an old schedule automatically to a new award. The current ticket’s conditions and issue or reissue date are essential.

Before purchasing, compare the flexibility of the available reward bundles alongside the mileage difference. Save the applicable conditions with the ticket receipt. For a partner award or a conflict between general legal text and the displayed fare rules, request confirmation from Etihad Guest before you pay.

Funding an Etihad Guest award from U.S. rewards#

Current official partner lists include Etihad Guest with Capital One and Bilt. Rove’s official directory also lists the program. These are separate source currencies, and the current transfer screen determines eligibility, minimums and the amount delivered to your airline account.
